The Highline

The Highline was established in 1930 as part of The West Side improvment project to remove dangerous trains from the industrial district. The community partnered with the city of New York and preserves the structure as an elevated park. 

Socrates Sculpture Park

Once an abandoned landfill and illegal dumpsite, today The Socrates Sculpture Park is public outdoor museum established in 1986 as the only site in the NYC area devoted to providing artists with opportunities to display large scale sculptures and multimedia instillations in an outdoor enviornment. It is internationally known and offers free public services.
